Science Communication Officer (online)

QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute – Herston, Brisbane, Qld

Duties:
Maintain the QIMR Berghofer website and social media presence, content creation and editing, design of landing pages for fundraising campaigns, creating schedule for the regular update of scientific content on website, edit content and collate weekly internal e-newsletter from Director’s Office, provide IT assistance to the communications team, liaise with IT for requirements of website creation, assist other members of the team during events and tours throughout the Institute, manage change of branding (from Queensland Institute of Medical Research to QIMR Berghofer) in online and internal media, assist graphic designer with workload, maintaining content on internal intranet site.

Skills:
Graphic design for web and print using Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, reputation management, raising brand awareness, and maintaining brand consistency through social media, content editing, monitoring approval deadlines with Director’s Office, stakeholder management, HTML, CSS, PHP, WordPress maintenance and customisation.

Write, edit and distribute media releases, liaise with media contacts, stakeholders, scientists, and communication professionals in other organisations, pitch stories to journalists, assist with media enquiries, set up interviews with relevant experts, collate content, lay out, edit and write for fundraising newsletter, Lifelab.
